ABOUT ME
I've had cameras in my hands most of my life due to my parents being videographers, but it was not until my early 20's that I became exposed to and driven to create in the realm of fine art photography. I've been dabbling in it for almost a decade, while also occasionally exploring other styles.

It may be a surprise to know I do not do photography or modeling for a living. While I am still occasionally compensated for my efforts behind and in front of the camera, this is primarily an expressive outlet that I aim to keep as least transactional as possible.
When I pick up a camera or am posed in front of one, I want it to be because I genuinely want to be there, experiencing the moment with the other individual(s). For me, this is more about the connections I make, and the meaningful moments I share with said connections.

I assume if you've read this far, my work has connected with you in some way. Thank you for being here.

COMMON FAQ
What is the best way to book a shoot with you?
Email (helisabethj@gmail.com) or Instagram direct messages are fine. In the event you get stuck in my spam or direct message requests, and I do not see your message in a timely manner, feel free to drop a comment on a photo of mine on Instagram mentioning you reached out. Once I've had a moment to review your request, we will then discuss concepts and if working together is a good fit.
What are your modeling rates?
Many of my shoots are trade shoots (no exchange of money), but my interest in a trade shoot with a photographer is situational to their experience and niche of content. If I'm not interested in a trade shoot, standard modeling rate is $70/hr and figure work is $80/hr. Important to note that regardless of rates, I will not do any type of shoot or pose I am not comfortable with.
What are your photography rates?
For fine art photography most of my shoots are also trade shoots, but occasionally I'll ask for ~$25 to help cover the cost of the film and development. If you're looking for me to photograph outside of the scope of fine art photography, there will likely be rates and/or situational to the event or request.
Do you travel?
Yes. I currently live in Baltimore, MD, but I usually travel to other cities within the U.S. a few times a year. Most reoccurring locations I visit are NYC, LA and my hometown Charlotte, NC. Unless my flight would be paid for, it's highly unlikely I would travel outside of the U.S. for a photo shoot.

How do I order your photo book(s)?
You can order my books on Blurb by clicking the two links (Weight that Wavers & A Part of Me Remains) in the navigation menu on this website. They both have previews pinned on my instagram profile if you aren't sure which one to purchase. While Weight that Wavers is more recent and has a personal touch with handwritten entries, both have expressive photo work and poetry that I feel reflect me well as an artist.
